Group Work
FESTA
Festival of Transitional Architecture
Christchurch, New Zealand
As an entry for the FESTA, the project explored the interaction of monument architecture and occupants. In this group project I oversaw structure and safety. The design evolved from the original plan due to budget limitations, scale and shipment complications from the North Island to the South Island of New Zealand. Its final form was a gigantic inflatable structure which served as an icon for the event and became the setting for a lighting and music show. The dancing columns impacted the audience visually and the rest of the spectacle added to the experience creating a fun and safe space for kids to play in. It served as a subversion of traditional monument architecture by changing the materiality and the way people interact with such structures.
